An igloo is a small dome-shaped shelter made from blocks of snow. These structures are commonly found in the icy regions of the Arctic and Alaska, serving as a refuge for hunters during the winter months. They are relatively simple to construct and provide excellent insulation against the cold, creating a comfortable space that is protected from the wind.
This winter, come to Andorra and learn how to build igloos with the guidance of an instructor, who will advise you on different techniques depending on the snow type and temperature: block igloos or those made by compacting! It is a fantastic activity to enjoy the stunning Pyrenean landscapes with children aged 3 and up.
OVERVIEW OF THE ACTIVITY
At the start of the workshop, the instructor will give a short theoretical lesson on the history of igloos, along with all the necessary information to ensure the activity runs smoothly. Afterwards, all the required equipment, such as shovels and saws, will be distributed, and a quiet little spot in nature will be chosen to begin constructing the igloos. Throughout the process, the instructor will be on hand to answer any questions and assist with the building. Depending on the condition of the snow at that time, the block or compacting technique will be used. Once the construction is complete, participants will have the chance to settle inside the little shelter and take some photos!

The igloo-building workshop takes place on the trails of the Valira Valley. A map with the GPS coordinates will be included in the reservation confirmation.
